With the new environmental zone introduced in Copenhagen on September 1, all vehicles more than 7 years old and which weigh more than 3.5 tonnes must have particle filters and display environmental labels in the window. The Municipality of Copenhagen expects to be able to measure the effect as early as 2010 in the form of 750 fewer bronchitis incidents, 8,000 fewer asthma incidences and 150 fewer early deaths and admissions to hospital due to respiratory illnesses annually.
