Christmas festival and shopping
In keeping with tradition the annually recurring Christmas parade, followed by extended opening hours in the stores, will take place in Aarhus in November. The Christmas parade is a sure sign that Christmas has come to town, and the streets are invariably abuzz with people. The parade passes through the central parts of the city, also wending its colourful way along the pedestrianised high street 'Strøget'. The shops celebrate this annually recurring parade by staying open until 9 o'clock in the evening.
Lighting of the Christmas tree in the City Hall Square
In keeping with tradition, the Christmas tree in the City Hall Square will be lit. And the city's fabulous, gloriously sparkling, starry-starry sky above the pedestrianised high street 'Strøget' will be lit. If you love Christmas, this is an event not to miss.
The Christmas parade route 2014
The Christmas parade sets off from the harbour, makes its way on to the Central Station, and from there it tours down the pedestrianised high street 'Strøget' to the main square by the Cathedral. The parade then progresses joyfully via the small square up towards the City Hall Square for the lighting of the huge Christmas tree. Please note that changes to the route may occur.
The route for 2015 will be published as soon as it is known
