Getting around in Aarhus is easy. Everything is within easy reach, and many choose to either walk or cycle in central Aarhus.
Aarhus does, however, also have a bus network with excellent coverage which makes it quick and easy for you to get where you want. The city buses are yellow. They operate all day in the central Aarhus area, and if you need to go further than this, there are also city bus routes to and from the surrounding suburban areas. If you need to travel outside Aarhus, you can also choose to go by one of the blue regional buses which have services to destinations throughout Jutland.
Bus stops are located throughout Aarhus. The area around the Central Station and the City Hall is the main junction point, and the majority of the bus services pass through this area.
When visiting Aarhus you can choose between two types of bus fare
You can buy a ticket for cash when boarding the bus. If you are only going a short way, you need to buy a ticket for two zones which cover the city centre and the immediate suburbs. Cash tickets are valid for two hours during which period you can freely change city buses.
If you are staying in Aarhus for a number of days, you can also choose to get a multi-ride ticket valid for ten rides. The multi-ride ticket is available from newsagents, supermarkets, and other outlets. When visiting Aarhus, you will be pleased to know that the bus route network makes it easy for you to get to your destination.
From the hotels, youth hostels, and camping grounds in and around the city, you can always take the bus whether you are going shopping in the city centre or visiting one of the many fascinating attractions in Aarhus. The buses go straight to your destinations and make travel clear and easy for you when moving around in Aarhus.
You can also choose to buy an AarhusCard which provides free travel in zones 1 and 2, free admission or admission at a discounted price to a large number of attractions and activities in Aarhus, and free parking in the city centre.
