The Gooseman’s Farm is a protected farmstead from 1789. This place is very characteristic of the small farmsteads that were built when the heaths were cultivated. The farmstead has remained almost completely in its original condition for the last 100 years by pure chance.
Handicrafts at the Gooseman
The Gooseman’s Farm is quickly becoming the center of traditional handicrafts and craftsmanship for Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum. Therefore the museum has begun cooperation with Ringkøbing Amts Handicrafts. It is volunteers that keep the Gooseman’s Farm open and demonstrate West Jutland handicrafts and craftsmanship.
Come and see the fine products here, when Ringkøbing Amts Handicrafts demonstrate their techniques and expertise. Have a chat about handicraft history and get some tips for your own projects.
If you would like to relax with a cup of coffee from a Madam Blå pot, you can visit the farm’s cozy little kitchen.
Gåsemandens Gård is part of Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, where you can experience history where it happened. This museum consists of a series of authentic buildings that all tell the tale of the life lived there throughout the ages and how the landscape shaped them.
At Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, history isn’t locked up in glass cabinets. Here you get to experience LIVE HISTORY with all your senses – history reenactments, guided tours, and activities for kids. With a week or year round pass, you get a discount, by visiting several locations. Kids and teenagers under the age of 18 are free of charge when accompanying an adult. The week pass can be purchased at the different locations, and the tourist information offices in Ringkøbing and Hvide Sande.
