Geomuseum Faxe

Travel 63 million years back in time to when Denmark was covered by a deep sea, and a large coral reef thrived where Faxe stands today.

Sharks and crocodiles coexisted with over 500 other species of animals.

At the Geomuseum Faxe, on the ground floor, you can explore the exhibition 'Denmark's Fossil Coral Reef.' Through graphics, fossils, and interactive experiences, the exhibit brings to life the fossils found in Faxe Limestone Quarry, offering a glimpse into a wondrous vanished world.

On the first floor, in the Nautil Lounge, you can enjoy the stunning view of the quarry while children can draw and play with machinery in our model quarry. The first floor will also host rotating special exhibitions.

You can also join the museum's knowledgeable guides on a fossil hunt in Faxe Limestone Quarry and discover your own 63-million-year-old fossils.
