By the cosy little city Dokkedal you will find the ridge called Mulbjerge with a beautiful view of Kattegat to the east and the moor Lille Vildmose to the west. The area rises 30 – 43 meters above the rest of the area. If you decide to take a hike in the area, you will encounter both beautiful plants and enclosed sheep and horses.
Experiences in nature
A valley cuts across Mulbjerge from the city Dokkedal and all the way to the coast. The valley is called Stejlgabet and by the mouth of the valley you can be lucky to meet leisure fishermen. On a hot summer day you can dip your feet in the shallow water by the wooden pier. If you bring along a fishing net you have the possibility to catch small fish and shellfish.
By the southern end of Mulbjerge the highest point is Guldhøj. Here, the grass is kept nice and short by grazing head of cattle. After hiking to the top, you can enjoy a beautiful view of Kattegat. If you continue along the small paths you will find fields, forests and enclosures with sheep, horses and head of cattle.
Oak trees are growing on the steep slopes and in the more open land you will find both Small Pasque Flowe rAnemones, Pasque Flowers, Bloody Cranesbills and Peach leaved bellflowers.
At Mulbjerge you can experience a wide variety of bird life. In the area you can encounter both Yellow Hammers, Common Linnets, Wood Pigeons and many different songbirds. Out on the more open areas you can encounter Skylarks and Meadow Pipits. Close to the moor, Lille Vildmose, you can also experience bigger birds like Buetos, Hawks, Falcons and if you are really lucky you might encounter the big eagle from the moor.
