Throughout summer there is a multitude of music festivals in Denmark and you can bring children to these arrangements. If you go along with other people who bring children as well, it can actually be a great experience for everybody. In some places special children's concerts are arranged – e.g. the so-called
“åh abe”-concerts (website in Danish only).
To ensure that the whole family get the best out of a music festival, it's useful to prepare for all eventualities, so here are a few things to remember:
- A blanket to sit on
- An umbrella or waterproof clothes – you never know what the Danish summer brings!
- Snacks if the children - or yourself - get hungry
- Suitable clothes – remember that it can get chilly at night
- Sunscreen
- Insect repellent
- Maybe some entertainment for the children, a boardgame or similar, if they find it difficult to concentrate on what happens on stage.
- Keep an eye on the children. Agree with them on what they should do if they cannot find you (e.g. provide them with a sign with their names and your mobile number).
