Christmas Like in the Old Days in Holstebro

Visit the cosy pop-up exhibition in the heart of Holstebro’s pedestrian street and experience Christmas like in the old days

Step into a cosy Christmas universe in the heart of Holstebro’s pedestrian street and experience traditions, stories and activities from Christmas in the old days.

The pop-up exhibition is free for everyone.

Experience a historic Christmas
Explore an old-fashioned Christmas living room with a decorated tree and festive table setting. Along the way, you can discover Christmas traditions through the ages, such as:

  • What gifts people received in the Middle Ages
  • When Denmark lit the first Christmas tree
  • Who lived in the attic before the Christmas gnome arrived

Family-friendly activities

In the exhibition, you’ll find Santa’s workshop with space for Christmas crafting on all opening days.

You can also:

  • Meet Santa when he stops by
  • Make your own Christmas decorations
  • Take this year’s Christmas photo in a real horse-drawn carriage
  • Buy annual passes and tickets to The Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede, Strandingsmuseum St. George and Holstebro Museum
  • Find Christmas inspiration and buy small gifts from the museums’ shops
  • Enjoy coffee, tea, juice and honey cakes

The exhibition is created in collaboration with The Open-Air Museum Hjerl Hede, Strandingsmuseum St. George, Holstebro Museum and Holstebro Handel.

The shop is open Wednesday–Sunday in weeks 48–51 and follows the pedestrian street’s opening hours (subject to change).
