The place was formerly known as Østerby Hotel and Inn and boasts a long history. Now, it is stylishly run by Thomas and Gitte, both trained chefs with a background at sea and in Vesterø, where they turned Vesterø Deli into a popular dining spot at the harbor.
The dedication to excellent service, great food, and a pleasant atmosphere has been brought to Østerby, where the facilities now include a hotel, restaurant, café, bar, indoor and outdoor seating, and many festive initiatives.

As a hotel, Modvind offers a range of cozy and newly renovated fine rooms on the first floor - several with views of the harbor and sea, all imbued with the ambiance of a seaside hotel. Originally built in 1933, the hotel has been continuously restored with respect for its classic style.
The hotel features six charming and smoke-free rooms with well-maintained shared toilet and bath facilities in the hallway. One of the rooms has the option for an extra bed. Modvind provides free Wi-Fi and has good parking facilities.
A delightful breakfast is included with the stay, and for tradespeople and others, there are options for coffee and packed lunches to go.

Scenic view and great location
Several rooms offer a lovely view of Østerby's charming harbor and, most importantly, the Kattegat Sea. The location is also optimal; within walking distance, you'll find a supermarket, various specialty shops, a fishmonger, a large marina, Østerby's active fishing harbor, and one of Læsø's best beaches - Østerby Strand, just west of the marina.
To the east, more beach stretches out towards Jegens with its beautiful heather moors. A brisk walk will quickly bring you to Danzigmand and Bløden Hale.
