Skjern Reberbane is Skjern's longest house - but also the narrowest!

It's a strange building. With its few meters in width, it looks very small when you see it from the front, but don't be fooled! The building is almost 100 meters long!

In the old days, it was on the rope course, the rope striker hit the rope. The ropes were used for sewing ropes for ships, ropes for ringing the church bell and to the ring for traditional Danish horse carriages and much more.

Skjern Reberbane is one of the country's few preserved original reefs. Here they have roped in the same way for the last hundreds of years.

Living History

Skjern Reberbane is part of Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, where you can experience history where it happened. This museum consists of a series of authentic buildings that all tell the tale of the life lived there throughout the ages and how the landscape shaped them.

At Ringkøbing-Skjern Museum, history isn’t locked up in glass cabinets. Here you get to experience LIVE HISTORY with all your senses – history reenactments, guided tours, and activities for kids. With a week or year-round pass, you get a discount, by visiting several locations. Kids and teenagers under the age of 18 are free of charge when accompanying an adult. The week pass can be purchased at the different locations.
