Copenhagen Metro is set to open its M3 City Circle Line, which will add 17 new underground stations to the city’s transport system.

The 15.5km new Circle Line connects the city centre with the neighbourhoods of Østerbro, Nørrebro, Frederiksberg and Vesterbro, offering tourists the chance to discover liveable neighbourhoods with parklands, attractions and restaurants.

All metro stations will allow daylight to reach the platforms but each station will be individually designed to reflect local characteristics. Travelling the entire Circle Line to see all 17 new designer stations takes just 24 minutes.

When the first two lines of the Copenhagen Metro opened in 2002, it was the first fully-automated urban metro system in Europe. Operating 24/7, the metro trains run underground as well as on elevated tracks. The next new metro line (M4) will open in 2020 and will connect the northern harbour with the city centre.
