Route description

The route starts and ends in the Bison Forest. It is a definite forest route and not particularly hilly, so it can be good to take on a day when it is windy, because there is usually always shelter in the forest.

It is a route through Denmark’s 5th largest forest area, which offers both castle ruins and observation towers – and if you are really lucky, you may even meet the herd of European bison that live in the area. The European bison, also called the Visent, is taller and a little slimmer than its American relative and more peaceful. However, they are still wild animals, so remember to keep your distance and never come between a cow and its calf.

The tour also takes you past bird sanctuaries, wetlands and the Arboretum forest garden.
