Klosterlunden

Right in the heart of Ringsted, behind St. Bendt's Church, lies Klosterlunden, a bright and airy urban park with many large, beautiful trees (beech, maple, willow, sessile oak, hornbeam, elm, blackthorn, water fir, common sorb, ash, and pear).

There are several benches placed at different viewpoints. There is a sensory garden in connection with the church with various herbs. At the end of the park, there is also a playground and a pavilion.

The park also boasts several sculptures: Pontus Kjerman's "Satyr, Cat, and Elephant" from 1995, and Jan Leth's "Enclosed Movement Towards the Sky" from 1987.

Klosterlunden was originally part of Ringsted Abbey, which burned down to the ground in 1806. Only St. Bendt's Church survived, although with significant damage. The abbey land was subject to the Bügel Family Trust established in 1814, and after many years of negotiations, Ringsted Municipality was finally able to take over the manor land in 1917.
