Kultur- og medborgerhuset Sønderborghus

Sønderborghus S/I is an independent institution that runs the cultural and community centre Sønderborghus and Mejeriet. The houses are used for many different activities, such as concerts, Stand-Up, lectures, workshop activities, open stage, jam, film club and a lot of activities for young people at Mejeriet.

Your regional venue

Sønderborghus is designated as the area's regional venue. It hosts more than 130 concerts a year with both current and up-and-coming bands - from the very popular to the very small - and the artists come from both Denmark and abroad. There is something for everyone – whether you like metal, pop, rock, blues, jazz – just to name a few genres.

Sønderborghus has 3 different stages, providing flexibility and adaptability ot he many different needs and artistic expressions. Sønderborghus organises several concerts in close collaboration with local venues in Sønderborg, and as a regional venue organises concerts in collaboration with the neighbouring municipalities of Aabenraa, Flensburg, Tønder and Haderslev.

The workshops

Kælderværkstedet

In the ceramics workshop - known as the basement workshop (kælderværkstedet) - you can work with clay.

It is a workshop where you can express yourself creatively with advice and guidance from the staff. Some of the activities require you to have attended a course first to learn the basic techniques.

Atelieret på 2.

Atelier på 2. is one of our two creative spaces.
Here you can sew, tuft, make leather, jewellery, draw, paint, print and much more.

You are basically self-sufficient in the workshops - but during set times you can get help from one of our skilled volunteers or our creative employees - who also offer courses and workshops.

Rehearsal room

Our rehearsal room can be used by anyone who has their own band and needs a place to practice.
Equipment: two guitar amplifiers, a bass amplifier, a drum kit (no cymbals), vocal system, microphones and cables.

Venues

Associations, activity groups and individuals can use the premises free of charge for meetings. For commercial events, a fee will be charged. We have rooms that can accommodate from 10 to 420 people.
