Omsorgsbænken in Sønderborg

The Omsorgsbænken (Care Bench) is one of Sønderborg's most atmospheric attractions – a handmade mosaic bench created as a warm and open place to sit down in the middle of the city.

The surface of the bench is covered with thousands of small, colourful mosaic pieces, which together form a vivid image of the city's landmarks, flowers and nature. The sharp edges and clear lines emphasise its architectural expression, while the colours bring joy and life to the area.

Here you can rest your legs, enjoy the view and be inspired by the art in the public space. Many people stop to take pictures – both of the bench and of the beautiful motifs that wind their way across the backrest.

Omsorgsbænken is created by local artist Sys Mindedahl, who wants to make everyday spaces a little more beautiful – and give both locals and visitors a place to feel calm, presence and community.

It is located in Rønhaveparken, which is a side street off Perlegade in the upper part of the pedestrian street.
