Overnight stay in a fire hut with a view

Shelter Njord is designed as a fire hut with an integrated grill and fire pit and accommodates 3–4 people. Here, you can stay close to nature with views across the open landscape and a small lake, creating a calm and relaxing atmosphere. The shelter is suitable for short stays, a single night outdoors, or as a stop on a longer hiking or cycling trip.

A green oasis in the heart of Frederikssund

Sillebro Ådal is a nature and recreation area approximately 1.8 km long and covering 90 hectares, centrally located in the town of Frederikssund. The area offers open grasslands, paths, streams and recreational facilities, making it ideal for relaxation, play and outdoor activities. Shelter Njord is located about 100 metres from a larger shelter area where several facilities are gathered.

Several shelters and shared facilities

Sillebro Ådal features several shelters, providing good options for both small and large groups. Shelters Slejpner, Hugin and Munin each accommodate 6 people, while Shelter Valhal has space for up to 10 people. The Midgård shelter area is the largest in the area, with capacity for up to 28 people and can be booked for up to two days. In addition, Shelter Bifrost is also located in the area. Shared facilities include tables and benches as well as grill and fire pits. Firewood is supplied once a week, and water and toilets are available in a building approximately 100 metres from the shelters.

Access, booking and routes

Shelter Njord is free to use and operates on a first come, first served basis. If you want to be sure of a place to stay overnight, the shelter can be booked via Friluftsguiden, where a booking gives priority upon presentation of booking confirmation.

Parking is available at Ågade 56, from where there is an approximately 200-metre walk along a gravel path to the shelter, as well as at Idrætsbyen on Bonderupvej 2C, from where it is about a 600-metre walk.

The Fjord Trail, Regional Route 40, runs approximately 2 km from the shelter area, making the area ideal for both hikers and cyclists looking for an overnight stay close to the route.
