At Brandts, you can experience Tau Lewis in an exhibition that unfolds as an immersive sensory installation. Here, fabric, leather, shells and other found materials become large sculptures, masks and tapestries that fill the space with presence and new narratives.

When materials are given new life

Tau Lewis works with recycled textiles and natural materials, hand-stitching them together. The slow craft of sewing is an important part of the works. Each stitch brings together traces of previous lives, old traditions and the artist’s own experiences.

The result is an exhibition where the materials feel alive. Some sculptures resemble people, while others emerge as mythical creatures with eyes, tentacles and bodies created from layers of textile. This is art you do not simply look at, but step into.

A journey through myths and moods

The exhibition is inspired by ancient stories of the goddess Inanna and her journey through darkness, loss and transformation. In Tau Lewis’ work, the myth becomes a contemporary universe where past and future meet in soft forms, sound and striking visual scenes.

At the art museum, you move through spaces that shift in mood and pace. There is room here for contemplation, curiosity and the big questions about where we come from, and how we are connected to each other and the world around us.

Contemporary art with body and edge

Tau Lewis uses soft materials to explore themes such as community, sustainability, cultural roots and stories that have often been left in the shadows. Her works point to new ways of seeing art, people and nature.
