Spend the night with views of the water in Boserup Forest

Bregnebjerg Shelter is beautifully located at the edge of Boserup Forest, right by the water, offering a calm and open view across Kattinge Vig in Roskilde Fjord. The shelter accommodates 6–8 people and is well suited for a simple, nature-based overnight stay where silence, birdlife and the changing light over the fjord are part of the experience.

The shelter cannot be booked and is available on a first come, first served basis. This makes it ideal for spontaneous trips and short stays for walkers, cyclists and outdoor enthusiasts who wish to stay close to both forest and water.

Find your way

There is no car access all the way to the shelter. Parking is available approximately 1.5 km away at the car park by Hundeskoven in Boserup, Boserupvej 102, 4000 Roskilde. Alternatively, parking is available at Boserup Forest West Car Park, where bus route 207 stops. The bus runs between Roskilde and Osted, providing easy access for visitors without a car.

From the parking areas, small forest paths lead the final stretch to the shelter.

Walking and cycling routes nearby

Bregnebjerg Shelter is ideally located close to several well-known walking and cycling routes. The Fjord Trail, regional route 40, passes nearby and is suitable for both walkers and cyclists, offering scenic routes along Roskilde Fjord. A circular section of the Skjoldung Trails also runs close to the shelter, taking you through varied landscapes of forest, open land and fjord views.

The Danish Pilgrimage Route and the main route of the Skjoldung Trails can be reached around 1.5 km away at Boserup Forest Car Park (the tall one). For cyclists, Munkevejen, cycle route 88 runs just 200 metres into the forest, while the Panoramic Route, cycle route 430 passes approximately 1.5 km away along Boserupvej.

Life by the fjord

Canoes and kayaks can land directly at the shelter site, making it a convenient stop on longer trips along the fjord. Several good fishing spots are found along the shoreline. The bay at Lerskrænten, about 700 metres east of the shelter, is particularly known for good fishing conditions, especially in autumn when fish pass through on their way to spawning, and in winter when shoals of sea trout may appear.
