The refuge offers nice new facilities that you can use free of charge:

The cozy grill hut – you can buy charcoal on site and sit sheltered while enjoying the fire.

Shelters – two inviting shelters with an adjacent fire pit.

Dog forest – let your dog run freely in the small dog forest.

Public toilet and kitchen – if you rent a cabin or a camper spot, you have the option to purchase access to a toilet with a shower and a more equipped kitchen for a small fee. However, everyone can use the public toilet (handicap accessible) and the hand wash station located right by the parking lot.

Additionally, the refuge offers play opportunities for both young and old in the form of a football field, pétanque court, and more. You can find balls, boules, etc., in the activity box at the clubhouse. The equipment can be borrowed free of charge, but please take good care of it and return it to the box after use.

Handicap accessible conditions:

The parking lot is gravel, but there are good possibilities to park close to the service building with kitchen and toilet. The public toilet is handicap accessible. From the building, driving mats have been laid out to make it easy for wheelchair users and people with walking difficulties to reach the camper site and the cozy cabins. The rest of the area is grass-covered, so accessibility depends on the weather. The cabins also have wheelchair-friendly access.

The cozy barrel-shaped cabins – a total of three cabins, each with space for 2 people.

Camper site with space for 4 campervans – all with electricity.

Electric charging station.

Experiences in the local area

Bur Fristed is a small oasis for the whole family. In the surrounding area, you will find the Storå river, where you can fish for salmon during the season. You can also canoe to the stop, from which there is about a 1 km walk to the refuge. You can take the train to Vemb, from where there are departures towards Lemvig/Thyborøn and Holstebro, and you can use the bike path between Bur and Vemb.

Within walking distance, you can also visit the beautiful oasis at Bur Lake, and on a longer walk, you will pass the troll Lotte Lokke Klokke near Møborg. These walks are not marked as hiking routes. The nearest shopping facilities are in Vemb.
