Gravlev Ådal Ruten
The Gravlev Ådal Trail is an 11.8 km hiking route connecting REGAN Vest, Rebildcentret and Thingbæk Limestone Mines with Lake Gravlev and Rebild Bakker. Along the way, you can experience varied nature, cultural history, scenic views and trails of international quality.

Gravlev Ådal Trail
Lace up your hiking boots and head out on the Gravlev Ådal Trail – one of the most experience-rich hiking routes in the area.
The 11.8 km trail connects the area around REGAN Vest, Rebildcentret and Thingbæk Limestone Mines with Lake Gravlev and Rebild Bakker. Along the way, you pass through river valley, forest, springs and open landscapes – and come close to cultural history, geology and remarkable viewpoints.
The Gravlev Ådal Trail is part of Hærvejens Perler and is certified as a Premium Hiking Trail by Deutsches Wanderinstitut. The trail has also been named one of Denmark’s best hiking routes by Deutsches Wanderinstitut.
A hiking experience of international quality
The Gravlev Ådal Trail was opened on 6 April 2025 and is an important addition to Rebild’s network of hiking routes. The trail brings together some of the most varied landscapes in the area and combines nature, history and outdoor life in a scenic and rewarding way.
At 11.8 km, the route is ideal if you are looking for a longer hike with plenty of variety along the way. You move through open countryside, woodland, river valley, springs and landscapes with strong cultural-historical stories.
A route designed for great nature experiences
The trail is marked with red arrows and takes you through varied terrain with gravel, forest floor, grass and forest roads. Along the way, you will find quiet stretches, beautiful views and good places to pause and let the landscape settle around you.
One of the special highlights of the route is Skillingbro Undervejsbro – a 76-metre suspension bridge connecting the area around the Cold War Museum REGAN Vest and Thingbæk Limestone Mines with the landscape around Lake Gravlev and Rebild Bakker. The bridge has been highlighted by Deutsches Wanderinstitut as both an elegant solution and a technical highlight.

REGAN Vest, Rebildcentret with Thingbæk Limestone Mines
The trail connects the area around REGAN Vest, Rebildcentret and Thingbæk Limestone Mines with Rebild Bakker. Here you encounter Cold War history, limestone mines and stories about the area’s geology and cultural history.
Skillingbro Undervejsbro
The 76-metre suspension bridge is one of the most distinctive points on the route. Here, you experience a special transition between landscape, history and nature.
Gravlev Ådal and Lake Gravlev
The trail leads you through Gravlev Ådal and the landscape around Lake Gravlev. Open views, birdlife and the closeness to the water give this part of the hike a calm and nature-filled character.
Rebild Bakker
The Gravlev Ådal Trail meets the landscape around Rebild Bakker and crosses the Rebild Bakker Trail. If you would like a longer hike, the two routes can be combined into a walk of more than 25 km on trails of international quality.
Certified Premium Hiking Trail
The Gravlev Ådal Trail is certified as a Premium Hiking Trail by Deutsches Wanderinstitut and has received the Wandersiegel – a quality mark for hiking routes with a particularly high experience value.
The certification highlights, among other things, the route’s variety, waymarking, distance information, information boards and facilities at Skillingbro Naturskole.
Deutsches Wanderinstitut is behind one of Europe’s most widely used and thorough quality systems for hiking trails. The certification is therefore a strong indication that the route has been planned with a focus on nature experiences, safety and high quality.
