Art, history and Bornholm atmosphere in Gudhjem

In the middle of Gudhjem’s steep streets and cosy harbour surroundings, you will find Gudhjem Museum, where art, history and Bornholm atmosphere come together in the old railway station buildings from 1916. The museum is run by local volunteers with a deep passion for the town and its history, something that is clearly felt throughout the atmospheric rooms and exhibitions.

Here, you can experience changing exhibitions featuring Bornholm art and crafts while also discovering the story of the old Gudhjem railway, which connected Gudhjem with the rest of the island until 1953. The original station rooms and historic architecture create a special atmosphere where both children and adults can explore stories about Gudhjem and life on Bornholm through the years.

Art and experiences throughout the season

During the 2026 season, Gudhjem Museum presents several changing exhibitions featuring both contemporary and older Bornholm art and crafts. One of the recurring highlights is the summer exhibition by the artists’ association Holkahesten, which attracts art lovers to Gudhjem every year.

Throughout the season, the museum also hosts talks, artist talks, guided tours and smaller events focusing on art, nature and local history – a cosy way to experience even more of Gudhjem’s creative atmosphere and unique history.

In front of the museum, you will find Gudhjem Museum Park – a beautiful green area with walking paths, granite sculptures, wild plants and views across the Baltic Sea.
