A Journey into the Atmosphere of Søbygaard’s History

Step inside and feel the presence of history in the exhibition "If Walls Could Talk". Here, the rooms of the Hunting Lodge are brought to life, as if we were visiting the Fabricius family, who lived at Søbygaard in the 19th century.

100-Year-Old Champagne and Today’s Newspaper

The exhibition opens the doors to the office, the house wife’s room, and several of the home’s central spaces, where authentic details and atmosphere bring past stories to life. See today’s newspaper on Ove Fabricius’ desk, the 100-year-old champagne ready for a gathering, or the delicate nightgown laid out for the evening. This is a sensory experience where furniture, objects, and small anecdotes offer a glimpse into a bygone era – allowing guests to imagine life at Søbygaard as it once was.

The Hunting Lodge in the Moat

The exhibition is one of three at Søbygaard’s Hunting Lodge, beautifully situated on a small island surrounded by a moat. To reach the lodge, all guests must cross the reconstructed drawbridge, which is raised on special occasions. The Hunting Lodge was built during the time of Duke Hans the Younger, intended for hosting hunting parties, and now serves as a setting for exhibitions and small events.
