The view from Knøsen is covered by trees - but a popular destination for both new and experienced hikers. If you want a beautiful view, there is a viewpoint with a bench not far from the top where you can enjoy the view of Dronninglund Storskov and Jyske Ås.

Knøsen is part of the "mountain range" Jyske Ås, so there is plenty of opportunity to continue the hike through the forest in the hilly landscape.

History

Knøsen is originally a Bronze Age mound/burial mound and dates back to around 1000 BC.

After 1807, the English used Knøsen to signal from. Around 1902, Lodberg, Flauenskjold and Rasmus built a mill tower on top. The tower stood until 1930, when a new tower was built. This tower was sold in 1939 to the Geodetic Institute, but was demolished shortly after the outbreak of war for the benefit of the Germans.

Practical information

If you want to climb Knøsen, the starting point is the parking lot west of Storskovvej, where you can also find your way there with the help of signs.
