The monument of infamy - Sæd

The monument tells the story of the woman Karen Christensen from the village Sæd, who poisoned her four children and herself in the year 1712.

She became pregnant, and the burghers refused to help her, and so she chose this last way out.

Karen Christens must as a suicide not be buried in holy ground and is buried under the monument, while her children lie buried in the cemetary by the church.
