Oldenor is a lake that has been drained and cultivated. In 1993, the 48-hectare area was flooded again and is now a true bird paradise.

From the viewpoint to the right of the car park on Færgevej you can see greylag geese, cormorants, herons and small diving ducks such as common pochard and tufted duck. In winter there are exciting species such as the common Merganser, which is the municipal bird of Sønderborg Municipality, as well as Common Goldeneye and Whooper Swan.

Often there are huge flocks of Eurasian Wigeon, and sometimes a white-tailed eagle hovers over the lake. A detour from the path leads down to the pretty marina, Dyvig, where you can also start your trip. If you fancy a refreshment after the walk, stop by Dyvig Badehotel.

Dogs must be kept on a lead to protect the birdlife and grazing animals.

The tour can also be done by mountain bike, with consideration for hikers, but it is not recommended to cycle over E' Govl to Mjels Sø, as this path is very narrow and runs along the steep coastline.

Oldenorstien is signposted in both directions, but if you prefer a digital view, you can download the Naturlandet App in App Store and/or Google Play.
