Parade for the living and the dead
Experience Svendborg when, for one evening, the streets are filled with hundreds of children and adults who light up the town with life and light.
The parade is the culmination of various workshops held around the city in the run-up to the event. Experience either from the sidelines or by participating in a fantastic procession of music, dance, giant puppets, witches and costumes, while imaginative lanterns light the way. After the light parade, Torvet transforms into an atmospheric marketplace with rituals, singing, food stalls and crispy popcorn.
The procession represents the journey through life, a celebration of the dead and finally into “the dark deep forest”, where you will be able to see lanterns and figures.
The evening is a celebration of life, but also of death, where you can remember those you have lost.
