A charming playground at the marina

At the far end of Juelsminde Marina, you will find this charming, recently established playground with plenty of space for play and relaxation in the sun. Surrounded by the atmospheric marina with its many places to eat, ice cream parlours and harbour shops, parents can soak up the summer sunshine while easily keeping an eye on the children.

The playground is located at Juelsminde’s recently established harbour square, Havnetorvet. It consists of a water playground set in beach sand as well as an adventure course. Havnetorvet is also a pleasant place to spend time, with plenty of benches where adults can relax in the sun or shade.

Which crab will come first?

Down by the water is the marina’s popular crab fishing arena, where children and the young at heart can catch crabs and other marine creatures. You will often see plenty of people lined up along the water trying their luck, but fortunately there are plenty of crabs to go around.

Once you have caught your crab, you can take it to the crab racing track and find out which crab makes it back to the water first.

Crab fishing does not require any complicated equipment. Simply tie a clothes peg with a piece of cold meat or a mussel to a length of string, and you should have a good chance of catching something. You can also buy a crab fishing rod from Marineshoppen at the marina. And if you ask nicely, you might even be able to get a mussel to use as bait from the fish shop.

Around the playground

The playground is surrounded by places to eat, ice cream parlours and beach shops, while still being nicely sheltered from the bustle of the surrounding area. A stroll around the marina and past Storstranden Beach, with its attractive bathing jetty, is highly recommended. While at the marina, the family can also visit Juelsminde Havnemuseum, where you can learn about the town’s history and try sailing around the harbour using the impressive ship simulator.

Visit the nature play park too

Children love Juelsminde! And there is even more to love now that East Jutland’s largest playground has opened in the town. With Tofteskoven Forest and Hotel Juelsminde Strand as its neighbours, this huge playground offers activities for children of all ages. A trip to the marina is easy to combine with a visit to Juelsminde Nature Play Park.
