Santa Claus awakens in Varde square

Santa is sleeping in the old town hall on the square in Varde. Every year at the end of November, he is magically awakened when all the children shout at him!

As tradition has it, Father Christmas will be awakened at 11:00 AM in the town square (Torvet) in Varde. Come along and feel the festive spirit spread.

Afterwards, the large Christmas tree will be lit.

In the heart of Varde, around 300 “Vardenisser” (Christmas elves) are waiting for Father Christmas to wake up. The elves can be seen all around the town centre. Scandinavia’s largest Christmas hat, measuring 120 square metres, is already in place atop the spire of the old town hall – now we’re just waiting for Father Christmas to wake up.

Programme of the day

At 10:30 AM, you can follow the elf band as they march through the town. They will pause at the town square while Father Christmas is awakened, and then continue playing as they proceed through the streets.

The Christmas stalls on the square and the town’s shops will be open from 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
